What is Slate? +
Slate is a production-ready Astro starter template for building fast, accessible, multilingual websites. It ships with a built-in design system, SEO tooling, and an i18n framework so you can focus on your content from day one.
How do I customize Slate for my project? +
Start by updating the brand values in src/lib/seo/defaults.ts, replacing the example content entries in src/content/, and swapping the color tokens in your Tailwind config. The CLAUDE.md at the project root walks through each step.
Which tech stack does Slate use? +
Slate is built on Astro with React islands for interactive components, Tailwind CSS for styling, and Bun as the package manager and test runner. Content is managed through Astro Content Collections.
Is Slate free to use? +
Yes. Slate is open source and free to use for personal and commercial projects. Check the LICENSE file at the root of the repository for the full terms.
